2008-10-09: upgraded to FreeBSD 7.1-prerelease on slice 1 on the usb hard drive. dmesg output.
2008-10-07: Upgraded to FreeBSD 6.4-prerelease on slice 2. dmesg output.
2008-10-07: I switched to slice 2 on the usb hard drive (I had to use 'fdisk -a -2', for some reason pressing F2 on the boot selector screen didn't work). Slice 2 contained FreeBSD 6.2-BETA1. dmesg output.
2008-10-06: with help from the PLoP Boot Manager (on a CD), I booted FreeBSD 7.0-stable from a usb hard drive. dmesg output: normal, verbose. Sound is supported via the snd_maestro kernel module. The laptop has an intpm power management controller. 'pciconf -lv' output. dmidecode - output. kenv output for smbios:
