2015-04-01: that worked, and I can now start the Fedlet liveUSB stick again. I connect my usb-to ethernet adapter, start a shell, verifies that the tablet has got an ip address ('ip addr'), set a password for the live user, and start sshd like so:
$ systemctl start sshd.service
then I can login remotely:
tingo@kg-core1$ ssg liveuser@10.1.161.12 Warning: Permanently added '10.1.161.12' (ECDSA) to the list of known hosts. liveuser@10.1.161.12's password: Last failed login: Wed Apr 1 11:08:29 EDT 2015 from kg-core1.kg4.no on ssh:notty There were 2 failed login attempts since the last successful login. [liveuser@localhost ~]$
cool.
2015-04-01: and now the Fedlet liveUSB stick doesn't boot either, perhaps it is corrupted. I'm rewriting it:
tingo@kg-core1$ uname -a FreeBSD kg-core1.kg4.no 9.3-STABLE FreeBSD 9.3-STABLE #0 r273918: Fri Oct 31 22:52:44 CET 2014 root@kg-core1.kg4.no:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/GENERIC amd64 tingo@kg-core1$ sudo dd if=./20141209-fedlet-i686.iso of=/dev/da0 bs=8M 162+1 records in 162+1 records out 1362100224 bytes transferred in 282.537432 secs (4820955 bytes/sec)
done.
2015-04-01: ok, laptop recovery wasn't enough, it still doesn't boot. So I boot from the Fedlet live stick, wth my Fedlet stick attached. Then I run (transcribed):
$ sudo su - # lvm lvs
which shows that I have two logical volumes: 'root' 12.69g and 'swap' 1.49g
# lvm vgs
shows that I have a volume group named 'generic' 14.22g
# lvm vgck generic
doesn't report anything.
# lvm pvs
reports that I have a physical volume group 'generic' on /dev/sdb3 sisze 14.22g.
# lvm pvck /dev/sdb3 Found label on /dev/sdb3, sector 1, type=LVM2 001 Found text metadata area: offset=4096, size=1044488
not sure if that means a problem, or what. Anyway, it still doesn't boot, so.
2015-04-01: the usb stick won't boot anymore, so I put it into my Xubuntu laptop for recovery.

2015-04-01: network - I plug a usb-to Ethernet adapter I have laying around into the usb hub, it shows up as interface enp0s20u2u1, and as soon as I plug it into the network I have an ip address. Success! I start sshd with
$ sudo systemctl start sshd.service
and verify that it is running with
$ systemctl status sshd.service $ ip addr
tells me that the unit has ip address 10.1.161.3.
2015-03-31: boot - booting from the SanDisk Cruzer Fit works (it takes a while) and allows me to login as my own user. After a while, the Welcome(gnome-initial-setup) dialog shows up, allowing me to select language. Next is initial help.
2015-03-31: install - I start the Installer (diamond-shaped icon) from the Activities menu. After a while I get Welcome to Generic 21. I select English language with US keyboard (there isn't a Norwegian keyboard choice) and Continue. Next is Date & time: Europe/Oslo as the timezone, Keyboard: Norwegian Nynorsk?, Next is select disks: unfortunately only the internal SSD (MMC 032GE4, mmcblk0) and the usb stick (SanDisk Cruzer Blade, sda) shows up - no microSD card. Hotplugging another usb stick in the hub doesn't help - it doesn't show up. So I quit the installer. Next try - when I start the Installer again, the new usb stick shows up (SandDisk Cruzer Fit, 14.91 GB, sdb) so I select it, auto partitioning. When I click "Done" I get (after a while) a window which tells me that "Your current Generic software selection requires 5768.64 MB of space, including 3720.64 MB for software and 2048 MB for swap space" and that I have "0 Free space" available on selected disks. Reclaim space appears to delete the vfat partition, to be sure I selected "delete all". Next up is Network & hostname, but the LiveUSB doesn't have any network yet, so I leave this alone. Finally "Begin Installation", I get to the User Settings screen, where I set root password, I create a user, make him Admin, and set a password for him. After that software installation is at 9%, this will take some time. After a (long) while it completes.
2015-03-31: booting Fedlet (20141209) with the microSD card inserted. The card shows up as 7.9 GB volume.
2015-03-29: Testing Fedlet (Fedlet 20141209). I connected the usb hub with keyboard, mouse and Fedlet usb stick to the tablet with the black and blue OTG cable (without external power), and powered up while holding down the volume up button. This got me into the boot menu, where I could boot from the Fedlet usb stick (navigate with volume up and down, execute with Windows key). After a while the tablet booted into Fedlet, and after a longer while the gui came up (I was booting from the live image). It works, but the network didn't work. No network interface.
