Work log

2021-07-13: I re-created this page on my self-hosted web server.

2020-09-28: nekoware is offline. try deBug Place for DINA.

2009-08-29: turned off routed with chkconfig routed off. Turned dhcp on with chkconfig autoconfig_ipaddress on. Yes, that works. However, name resolution (using DNS) doesn't work. Must find out how to get that working. For now I just manually edited /etc/resolv.conf. It must include three lines:

hostresorder bind local
domain <your domain>
nameserver <ip address of nameserver>

2009-08-29: To configure the machine for dhcp, use chkconfig autoconfig_ipaddress on; this will configure the machine to start the dhcp client (proclaim).

2009-08-29: I had forgotten the root password again, so I had to get out crack again, and then I made a copy of the passwd file (only the line for the root user) on one of my bsd machines. It took me longer to remember how to use crack than cracking the password. Oh well. The keyboard (I am using a "normal" PC keyboard (with PS/2 connector)) is a bit odd; not all keys are in their normal place. Like this:

Key Function
Ctrl caps lock
Esc num lock
win key Escape
Scr Lock *
