History

2024-01-27: today when I stepped on the scale, it didn't react. I had to get off and on to make it awaken. Oh well.

2023-12-12: batteries - the app says 15%, and no weight results since Sunday. Time to replace the batteries, me think. Same drill as always: physically replace the batteries, then in the app do "Devices", WS-50, "Check for updates", connect scale (press Bluetooth button under for 3 seconds) and press Next until finished. About a week over 6 months - good.

2023-09-20: apps - update to Withings Health Mate 6.0.0,

2023-06-03: batteries - the app says 11% today. replaced the batteries (physically), then in the app I did "Devices", WS-50, "Check for updates", connect scale (press Bluetooth button under for 3 seconds) and press Next until finished. 6 months - good.

2022-11-30: battery - the scale showed "low battery" indicator today, and the app says 11%.

2022-07-12: weird behaviour from the WS-50 today. On the first two tries, it just showed a very low weight (single digit) and would not progress. On the third try it worked normally.

2022-05-27: battery - this evening I measured the old batteries. Sure enough, one of them only measured 70 mV. The other was above 1.3 V, that explains the short battery lifetime for this set.

2022-05-27: battery - this morning, the scale showed a big "no battery" symbol when I tried to use it. So I (physically) replaced the batteries, then in the app I did "Devices", WS-50, "Check for updates", connect scale (press Bluetooth button under for 3 seconds) and press Next until finished. One month and three weeks - not good at all. Must have been a bad battery in there.

2022-05-26: battery - at weigh-in today the "low battery" symbol showed on the scale. Later the app confirmed it - batteries are at 10%, time to replace.

2022-04-03: today the weight was acting weird. I was standing normally (both feet down) on it, but instead of the normal weight procedure, it was showing a very low weight and the "only one foot placed correctly" indicator. I had to try 3 - 4 times before the nomal procedure started. The app claims the batteries are at 83% so I'm not sure what the problem was.

2022-03-04: battery - I physically replaced the batteries, then in the app I did "Devices", WS-50, "Check for updates", connect scale (press Bluetooth button under for 3 seconds) and press Next until finished. Six months, ten days - good.

Slightly under 4 months, not as good as the previous battery set.

2014-12-01: today the WS-50 just said "unknown" when I tried measuring myself, and aborted after the weight measurement. The measurements (weight only) could be found as "unknown" or something to that effect measurements under the side menu in the Health Mate app, and I could assign them to myself.

2014-08-26: app - Withings Health Mate updated to version 1.66.50 on my Galaxy S5. The new version still looses ("zeroes out") RunKeeper activity data a few seconds after you have started the app. If you keep the app "open" long enough, RunKeeper data reappears.

2014-07-20: tonight I set up the WS-50 by following the quick installation guide. The weight itself was easy, I opted to install the carpet feet as well (it will keep the weight up from the floor). The pairing button sets up Bluetooth, in case that wasn't obvious. Software side, I installed the Withings app ("Withings Health Mate", currently at version 1.66.00) on my Samsung Galaxy S5 phone. The rest of the setup was creating an account at Withings, then input profile data. I had to start over, as the app threw me out the first time, forcing me to log in again. Then I had to add my WS-50 as a "new device", including connecting it to my wireless network. Lastly, the app doesn't disconnect the Bluetooth connection to the WS-50, I had to do that manually.

2014-07-19: I bought the Withings WS-50 at Teknikmagasinet on Karl Johan for NOK 1290.-
