and tried applying then via update from SDcard. No joy, installation aborted. I wonder if it is because the current image is a bit different:

what happens if i try to search for it? hmm, couldn't find anything.

2016-11-07: apps - new Aldiko Book Reader now show ads every time you start it. TVHClient stops every time I start it, after clearing app data and configuring up a connection to my tvh server again it works. Some channels works better than others.

2014-12-16: system update. Another system update (113 MB) available. I download and install it. After the install (it took a while), reboot, app optimizing (135 apps, took a while) and "Update successful" message I checked About tablet - still Android 4.4.2, kernel 3.4.67. 2014-11-22: app - I tested TVHClient after reinstalling it. It works on channels i have access to, at least the "SD" ones. For some reason, there isn't program guide data for the HD channels - no program guide data, not possible to view the channel.

2014-11-22: apps - auto-updated: Google Play Music 5.7.1781Q.1595424, MX Player 1.7.32, YouTube 5.17.6, manual update: TVHClient 1.6.1 - I had to uninstall and reinstall it to get it working.

2014-07-22: system update. Right after installing, a new system update is available: "A new system update is available (258MB)." and "This software update includes the following major changes:

1. Android 4.4.2 KitKat  update
2. Security enhancements
3. Updated Camera app"

1. Google has changed the external storage policy for android 4.4.x KitKat. Now only the pre-loaded system applications have permission to write to external

Oh well, I'll upgrade anyway. "Download now", followed by "Restart & install". Next is the Android "Installing system update..." animation with a progress bar, and (after quite a while) another reboot, followed by "Android is upgrading" - 136 applications to optimize, then finished. When unlocked, the tablet informed me that "The update was sucessful." About tablet - Android version 4.4.2, kernel version 3.4.67. I also had to set (confirm) the backup account (Gmail) not sure what it is used for.

The text says: "A new system update is available (132MB).". and "After installing this update, the operating system will remain at version 4.2.2. Please be aware that this update is necessary to update to Android 4.4 (KitKat) in the future". Oh well, start downloading. After download, do "Restart & install". Next is the Android "Installing system update..." animation with a progress bar, and (after quite a while) another reboot, followed by "Android is upgrading" - 71 applications to optimize, then finished. When unlocked, the tablet informed me that "The update was sucessful.". About tablet - Android version 4.2.2, kernel version 3.4.5, changes:

2014-06-21: no system update, the tablet still runs Android 4.2.2.

2014-04-06: ssh access using VX ConnectBot (homepage) with Hacker's Keyboard (homepage) is a workable solution. The standard Google keyboard doesn't have arrow keys.

2013-11-14: cashback - today a payment of NOK 250.- from "Custom Solutions SA" with a reference to "Acer Europe SA" was confirmed into my account,
cashback worked. So a total price of NOK 618.- for this tablet.

2013-10-03: unpacking. Contents of package: 1 x tablet, 1 x charger (5.35V 2A), 1 x usb cable (usb A to micro USB), 1 x "Getting Started" leaflet, 1 x Product Safety / Warranty information bundle. Powerup - After powering on and completing the setup (boring stuff), I skipped the Acer registration (more boring stuff). The battery is at 71%. 2013-09-24: I registered my cashback application at http://eu-deals.acer.com/ it takes 4 weeks before I will know if Acer approves my claim / application. If approved, I will get the cashback 6 - 8 weeks after the application date.

2013-09-22: the Acer Iconia Tab A1-810 (ACNTL1DEE004) was the sunday deal at elkjop.no today, they wanted NOK 799.- for it, and NOK 69.- for fast shipping, which gives a total of NOK 868.-. I ordered one. Acer also has a cashback deal - you will get NOK 250.- back. If that works, the price will only be NOK 618.- including shipping for this tablet.
