History

2014-12-23: I replaced it with a Netgear WNR3500L I already had bought.

2014-11-20: the router stopped working earlier this year. Today I checked it. First the PSU - tested with another, nope it was not the PSU. The symptoms are that when powered up from a cold state (meaning "without power for about 20 minutes") the power LED will blink, and occasionally it will try to start the router (all LEDs light up) but it fails. After a while (a few minutes) with power on, the DC-DC converter (AC1501-33) will "buzz" and turn off. I suspect it is broken. Replacements exists, but are expensive. Not worth the hassle?

2013-05-01: the router wouldn't pass traffic today. I checked via the web interface, I could ping named hosts, everything looked ok, but no traffic would flow through the router. In the end I just rebooted. All ok now.

2012-10-29: today the PSU stoppet working properly. Symptoms: the router reboots endlessly. When I measured the PSU without load it was about 16V, but after plugging it into the router and taking it out again, the voltage fluctuated. I borrowed a PSU from a Linksys E2500, and now the router is back in service again.

2012-09-25: I upgraded the firmware to Tomato v1.28 via the GUI. That worked flawlessly - the new firmware retained most of the configuration, including the ip address. I had to set up WPA as auth for the wireless network, some of my older devices (one rabbit, one Squeezebox v3) didn't like the WPA2 auth. dmesg output: normal. From the gui:

Nice.

2004-??-?? The router has been running wifi-box.net Release 2.0.2.2.6.tpr 02/10/2004 firmware for many years now. Web page: http://sf.net/projects/wifi-box/ ????-??-?? I got the router.
